Psalm 49 may give some insight into finances. Should man trust his money in times of trouble? This psalm says an emphatic “no!” Verse 6 mentions:

“those who trust in their wealth and boast of the abundance of their riches.”

and that, in verse 7:

“no man can ransom another, or give to God the price of his life, for the ransom of their life is costly”

But, those who trust in the LORD, according to verse 15:

“But god will ransom my soul from the power of Sheol, for he will receive me.”

Why would I ever put my trust in wealth? Is wealth bad? No, wealth is not bad, but the steadfast hope of wealth being a buffer from life difficulties is the problem. Jesus said that man cannot serve two masters, God and money. You are bound to what you serve.

Psalm 50 describes the completely otherliness of God; He is in no way like man.
